Song Challenge
Repeated, shifting contours share one center: the many rhythms of an ordinary self.

BRIGHT DANCE-POP / NOCTURNAL POP & R&B · EVERYDAY RHYTHMS · MANY SIDES, STILL ME

Still Me

The person on the morning commute, the friend heading home, the dreamer making time for one small thing tonight: none of them has to cancel out the others. Still Me celebrates the different sides of an ordinary day with a little playfulness and quiet confidence. It is less about proving who we are than enjoying the freedom to be more than one thing—and letting the picture keep moving.

The Rhythm of Roles

First imagined with a brighter dance-pop energy, Still Me also found a nocturnal creative feel as the arrangements developed. These are alternative directions we conceptualized, each offering a way to capture the rhythm of the daily self: reflective 104 BPM nocturnal pop / R&B with a glassy signature hook, deep bass, tight drums, and airy choruses; and bouncy 120 BPM dance-pop with higher visible confidence, dry claps, bright synth stabs, and stop-start accents. The brighter dance-pop version brings out playfulness and self-assurance; the nocturnal version makes room for a reminiscing ride home. Keep the words clear and let the different sides of an ordinary day coexist. Use these directions as invitations, not a single prescribed sound.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Eight AM, the ride downtown Sunlight on my sleepy eyes Whole day's running through my mind Words I'll say when it's my time You caught me in a single frame Now you're reaching for a name Let the picture move a little, just a little Coz I got more ways to shine

Pre-chorus

Turn the light, change the view Nothing here I have to prove Every color is coming through I can leave a little room

Chorus

Soft light, wild side Both look good, look good on me New day, new sky It is more than what you see Still me, still me, me, me, me, me, me Moving to a different beat, different sides Do you really have to name it? Can you leave a little room for me

Post-chorus

hush, hush, breathe, breathe Little room, just a little Different rhythm, Different beat If you name it, I’ll just add room for me

Verse 2

Six PM, the ride back home Night lights sliding slowly by Someone’s waiting, friends to call And a little dream I'll give some time Evening is running through my mind I can see that other life Not so far from where I'm sitting One small thing I'll try tonight

Pre-chorus · repeat

Turn the light, change the view Nothing here I have to prove Every color is coming through I can leave a little room

Chorus · repeat

Soft light, wild side Both look good, look good on me Gold light, wide eyes Ready for that mystery Still me, still me, me, me, me, me, me Moving to a different beat, faster now No need to name it Open up the room for me

Bridge / dance break

Step out, chin up, oh, unlock the other side My beat, my pace, watch me zoom out a little No box, no frame, it’s all the me you see I don't need a label, I don't need a name

Final hook

Still me, still me Moving to a different beat Let it breathe, let it breathe Still me, me, me, me, me, me, me

If your lyrics are in a language I can't understand, I will use an AI tool to help translate them so I can consider their meaning. Your lyrics will be shared with that tool, and its translation may miss nuance.

Make a little something.

  1. Choose your starting point.

Use a verse, a chorus, or a full song draft. Write your own melody, adapt or translate the shared lyric drafts, or write an original rap about the struggle of self-transformation: wanting to change, being afraid to let go, and making room for another side of yourself. You don't have to use the shared drafts. A phone recording is as welcome as a studio production.

  2. Make it at home in your language.

The English lyric drafts are the source text for translations. Any translations I provide are for convenience, not finished lyrics for every language or culture. I can't fully understand every cultural context, so please adapt the words, imagery, rhythm, and expressions to what feels natural and appropriate in yours. You don't need to follow the English word for word. Keep the theme, bring your own perspective, and credit the source and note your adaptations if you use a shared draft.

  3. Bring your sound. Or your movement.

For choreography, use your own recording or music you have permission to use. Check the platform's music rules, especially for commercial posts. This invitation does not clear anyone else's recording, samples, or composition.

  4. Share it your way.

If you post on TikTok, Instagram, or elsewhere, you can use #StillMeZeredi or #RoomForAnotherAnswer. Hashtags are optional, not entry forms. Posting does not guarantee that we will see or feature your work.

Your contribution stays yours.

Participating does not assign your rights to Zeredi. You retain whatever rights you hold in your original lyrics, music, performance, choreography, and recording, subject to collaborators' and third-party rights. An original rap written around the theme is your own creative work, not a lyric draft supplied for this challenge. If you don't adapt or use a shared draft, its license and suggested credit do not apply: no Zeredi credit or mention is required. Other people can explore the same theme or adapt the shared drafts too; neither the theme nor the drafts are exclusive to any participant.

Permission for the shared lyrics

To the extent Zeredi holds copyright in the lyric drafts shared through the Song Challenge, I offer them under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt the drafts, including through translations, musical settings, recordings, and commercial releases, subject to that license. Credit the source, link the license, and indicate changes. This permission covers the shared lyric drafts only—not Zeredi's logo, other artwork, or anyone else's music.

A place for your interpretation

For each song, I may invite creators of up to 10 interpretations that I personally like, whether for how they explore the song's theme or for the creativity of their work, to be featured on this site, with their permission and agreed credit. This is a personal selection, not a ranking or competition. Your work remains yours, and choosing not to be featured does not affect your participation.

A hashtag, public link, or contact message does not authorize Zeredi to download, reupload, edit, or use your work in advertising. If I would like to feature it, I will ask separately and agree on the use and credit. Make sure all relevant contributors can agree too.
